It was a sunny sunday in Sopot on August 15, 2004 when Rafael Nadal earned his spur by defeating José Acasuso of Argentina  6–3, 6–4 in the final.

Jose Acasuso stood between Nadal and his first ATP title, and youthful Spaniard celebrated by 6-3 6-4 out of a hour and 36 minutes, in what has been a tight match.

There were 25 break points altogether, Rafa fights off 11 out of 12 and he broke Acasuso 3 times from 13 chances to secure the match in straight sets and get his first ATP trophy.

The main break happened in the eighth game of the opener, Nadal moved 5-3 in front and he shut the set with a hold in game 9, which gave him the psychological edge. 2 breaks of serve were sufficient for the Spaniard to assert the set by 6-4 and lift his first ATP title

This was just the start of a promising career of a Rafa who is now considered as one of the greatest of all time, having already won 17 Major titles icluding 11 Roland Garros trophies and 79 titles overall

But it all started from Sopot where he won his maiden title and announced his arrival on the big stage.
